What We Believe

GOD
We believe in one God, Creator of all things, infinitely perfect and eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. (Deuteronomy 6:4; 1 Corinthians 8:6; Matthew 28:19)
JESUS
We believe that Jesus Christ is the son of God, yet co-equal with God. He came to earth to provide a way for man to have a relationship with God. He did this through his death on the cross, and his resurrection, three days later. We believe that He one day will return as the sovereign King. (Matthew 1:22-23; Isaiah 9:6; John 1:1-5, 14:10-30; Hebrews 4:14-15; 1 Corinthians 15:3-4; Romans 1:3-4; Acts 1:9-11; 1 Timothy 6:14-15; Titus 2:13)
HOLY SPIRIT
We believe that the ministry of the Holy Spirit is to glorify the Lord Jesus Christ; and during this age to convict men; regenerate the believing sinner; indwell, guide, gift, instruct, and empower the believer for godly living and service. We believe that all the gifts of the Holy Spirit described in the Scriptures are still given to believers by the Holy Spirit today. (Luke 3:22; Romans 8:9; Luke 12:12; John 16:7-14; 1 Corinthians 12 & 14)
MAN
We believe that man was created in the image of God, the supreme being in God’s creation, for the purpose of knowing God and worshipping him. Man has a problem in that his sin nature keeps him from fulfilling this ultimate purpose. (Genesis 1:27; Psalm 8:3-6; Isaiah 53:6a; Romans 3:23; Isaiah 59:1-2)
ETERNITY
We believe that man is an eternal being. He will either exist with God in heaven, or separated by sin from God in hell. We believe that heaven and hell are the two places of eternal existence. (John 3:16 I John 2:25; 5:11-13 Romans 6:23 Revelation 20:15)
SALVATION
We believe that salvation is a free gift from God to man, made possible by the sacrificial death of Jesus. Salvation can only be received by repentance of sin and faith in Jesus. We believe this act is a one-time occurrence in a person’s life. (Romans 6:23; Ephesians 2:8-9; John 14:6, 1:12; Titus 3:5; Galatians 3:26; Romans 5:1)
BAPTISM
We believe that baptism is the first step of obedience in the Christian life. It is not necessary for salvation, but an outward expression of a personal commitment to God. We believe in water immersion as the Biblical model of baptism. (Matthew 28:19-20; Mark 1:9-1)
BIBLE
We believe the Scriptures, both Old and New Testaments, are the inspired Word of God, without error in the original writings, the complete revelation of His will for the Salvation of men, and the Divine and final authority for Christian faith and life.
(2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:21)

WHAT’S WITH THE “TWO RIVERS"?

In the traditional “Word-based” cultures of many evangelical churches, there is an emphasis placed on Bible study, scripture memorization, and the authority of God’s Word…but sometimes a neglect of learning to be guided by the person of the Holy Spirit.

In many traditional “Spirit-led” cultures in many charismatic churches, there is an emphasis placed upon expressive worship, gifts of the Spirit, and an expectation of God’s manifest presence…but sometimes there is a neglect of careful biblical study and teaching of the Scripture.
Two Rivers Church seeks to borrow from the best of both of these traditions while avoiding the extremes.
We are committed to be people devoted to the Word of God led by the Spirit of God and merging these two rivers of tradition.

Covenant Practices

What Are Covenant Practices?
At Two Rivers Church, our Covenant Practices are commitments that shape how we follow Jesus together as a church family. Rooted in Scripture, these practices help us grow in faith, build meaningful community, and live out the gospel in our daily lives. They reflect our shared devotion to Christ, our dedication to one another, and our mission to make an impact in the world around us.

We embrace these practices not as a checklist, but as a way of life—centered on abiding in Christ, pursuing community, confessing and repenting, serving with our gifts, living generously, and growing in gospel understanding. These commitments guide us as we seek to be transformed by Jesus and to see His kingdom advance through His church.

Core values

What are Core Values?

At Two Rivers Church, our Core Values define who we are and shape everything we do. They reflect what we believe is most important in following Jesus and living as His church.

These values guide our culture, inform our decisions, and keep us focused on the mission God has given us.
These values are not just statements—they are the heartbeat of our church, shaping how we love, grow, and serve together.

Denomination Affiliation

Two Rivers Church is part of the Evangelical Free Church of America (EFCA), a movement of gospel-centered churches committed to biblical truth, the mission of making disciples, and unity in essential doctrines while allowing freedom in secondary issues.

The EFCA emphasizes the authority of Scripture, the necessity of personal faith in Jesus Christ, and a commitment to both the Great Commandment and the Great Commission. As part of this network, we join in a shared vision to glorify God by multiplying transformational churches among all people.
